The short version

OpenHockey Engine does not require an account, and this website does not track you across other sites. We only collect the information needed to sell you the game and to let you install it.

What we collect

  • Purchase details. When you buy OpenHockey Engine, our payment processor handles the transaction. We receive the order details and the license key associated with your purchase — not your full card number.
  • Your license key. Your key is checked when you run the installer so it can validate and download the game.
  • Launch-list email. Before launch, the site offers one signup: leave your email and we’ll tell you when the game is ready. We store that address (and the campaign tag on the link you arrived through) only to send that message — we don’t sell or share it. Ask us to remove it at any time and it’s gone.
  • Basic server logs. Standard web server logs record requests to this site, used to keep it running and diagnose problems.

The game itself

OpenHockey Engine processes everything on your own computer. The camera feed used to detect puck impacts is analysed locally and is never uploaded, recorded, or sent to us. The game needs an internet connection only to activate your license key the first time and to download updates; after that it works offline.

How we measure site traffic

We measure this website ourselves, on our own server — no analytics cookies, no third-party scripts, and nothing is shared with an advertising network. A page view records the page itself, a coarse guess at your device and browser, and what site sent you. To count unique visitors without cookies, we use a fingerprint that expires daily: a one-way hash of your IP address and browser string, made under a secret that is destroyed every 24 hours — so today’s visit can’t be recognised tomorrow. Your full IP address is only written down when you sign in, when you buy, or when the installer checks your license key — the moments where it helps us fight fraud and troubleshoot your key. Analytics records are automatically deleted after 180 days.

Cookies

This site does not use advertising or analytics cookies. If Square's checkout sets a cookie while processing your payment, that is Square's own cookie, governed by their privacy policy.

Your choices
